A single personal assistant is allowed only in the marked assistance zone at stations with crew access (500m before to 500m after the aid station) and may only hand the runner a bag of up to 30 liters — crew may not enter the aid station itself or provide medical assistance beyond minor care (e.g. a blister or massage) with the runner seated. Runners who miss a station cutoff are pulled from the race and bussed back to the event area by the organization.
