Crew Access Notes

Start / Finish

Corner of 6th and Harrison, Leadville, CO. Start line opens 3:00-3:45am
Saturday; race starts 4:00am Saturday. Finish cutoff is 10:00am Sunday
(30 hours, gun time).

Crew-accessible aid stations (4 total)

Crewing outside these locations is against the rules and results in
disqualification. Runners hit each of these twice (outbound and inbound)
except Mayqueen, which is crew-accessible inbound only.

- Outward Bound — mile 23.3 outbound / 76.2 inbound. No crewing or
parking restrictions. Setup begins 5:00am Saturday. Crew shuttles run
continuously Outward Bound <-> Twin Lakes Village, 6:00am-11:00pm.
- Pipeline (Alternate) — mile 26.8 outbound / 72.7 inbound. No crewing
or parking restrictions. Setup begins 5:00am Saturday. Crews are not
permitted south of CR-160.
- Twin Lakes Village — mile 37.9 outbound / 61.8 inbound. Crew
wristbands required (kids 10 & under exempt). No driving access — shuttle
from Outward Bound only. Reserved 10'x10' crewing spaces assigned via
lottery (two drawing windows); otherwise use the shared Open Crewing Area
(no large items: tents/chairs/coolers).
- Mayqueen — mile 87.2, inbound only. Crew access begins Saturday
5:00pm. Traffic moves clockwise around the lake — enter from South/Dam
side, exit north. Crew wristbands required (kids 10 & under exempt).
Parking pass required.

Winfield (turnaround, mile 49.8)

No personal vehicle access — a washed-out access road means crew,
spectators, and pacers cannot drive to Winfield. The race runs a continuous
shuttle from Twin Lakes to Winfield, 7:00am-6:30pm. Half Pipe and Hope Pass
also have no vehicle access (hike/bike in only), so treat them as non-crew
stops.

Pacers

Pacers may join a runner starting at mile 61.8 (Twin Lakes inbound) onward.
Each runner gets 2 pacer bibs at packet pickup; additional pacers must
transfer a bib or pick one up at Twin Lakes, Half Pipe, Outward Bound, or
Mayqueen. Only one pacer on course at a time (until mile 99). Pacers may
carry food/gear but may not push/pull/tow the runner, and must be on foot —
no bicycles. A signed waiver is required before receiving a pacer bib.

Drop bags

Clear plastic bags only — no exceptions. Name, race number, and aid station
name must be on the outside in large letters (wide white tape + black
felt-tip marker recommended). All aid stations have drop bags **except Hope
Pass**. Since you pass through most aid stations twice, consider separate
bags marked OUTBOUND / RETURN. Liquids must be in leak-proof, non-breakable
containers. Bags are returned to the Leadville Race Series Retail Store
Sunday, must be collected by 6pm — no late pickup, no mailing.
